Fr. Albera’s story

June 9,1868: Inauguration of the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians.

Paul Albera writes:

“I remember that solemn moment as if it were yesterday: Don Bosco, beaming with joy, his eyes full of tears, going up to the main altar to celebrate the holy sacrifice of the Mass under the loving gaze of our Mother, Mary Help of Christians…”

«I returned to Turin the year in which the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians was consecrated, and for another four years I was privileged to be close to Don Bosco and to draw from his great heart those precious teachings that were all the more effective because we saw him put them into practice in his daily actions»
